Fall is here. Sort of. In this part of the world (New Jersey, USA) it seems we have slipped from an extremely short, cool, and damp summer directly to a cold and wet winter. Low 40′s with a constant drizzle or rain going on all day. So I went out and took a few photographs. My daughter found this little abandoned building out by her job. Everything around us seemed so drab and dreary. I may have punched the colors up a little bit too much but it really brings the photo from a drab display to something a bit more exciting.

Per my Dad’s comments I tried a Black and White conversion. It really was drab and boring until I punched the contrast up considerably. The photo has also gotten a bit of noise which I can’t seem to remove without lowering the contrast again. I may have to look at a tool like “Noise Ninja” if I’m going to be experimenting much more with this style of photography.

Sadly this resulted in the loss of a lot of (indoor) photos and even the ones I did salvage weren’t particularly good. I now know why the pros hit “reset” before every shoot. I’m just glad this wasn’t a paying job or I would have been in serious trouble.
