Project 52 is based from the Digital Photography School (DPS) message forums. The basic premise is that each week a particular theme or project is given and you take your photo during that week’s theme. Themes can range from anything from entirely abstract such as “melody” to something a bit more specific such as “self-portrait”. If there are any specific rules, they will be given during that week’s theme. Mostly it’s up to interpretation.
Project 52 is designed as something to try to get you to be more creative with your photography. Sometimes it gets you out of your comfort zone, mostly it should be fun. In my case time was an issue. Project 365 was just too time consuming, while simply taking and posting one photo a week would have been too lax. Project 52 helps me to make sure I’m looking with a photographer’s eye while doing something new each week, trying a different technique, or just trying to find a new way to photograph something.
To join in is quite simple! Every Wednesday I’ll post a new project which will include any details for that week. You have from Wednesday thru to next Wednesday to complete that week’s project. All I ask is that your submission relate to the week’s assignment and you must have actually taken the photo during that week.
Leave me a comment on that post and I’ll update it with the link to that specific project. Anyone is welcome to join. This is a community effort where I hope to be able to help each other out whether it be with technique or technical. Most importantly, just have fun!
